About Seth Duncan

Introduction
I started into music by jamming to “Danger Zone” on my dad’s guitar without actually knowing anything about how to play guitar. It just felt right to jump around to that song pretending I was a rock star. My father was very much into music, and despite his intentions, I had access to guitars, keyboards and drums from a very young age. A few years down the line, I owned my first electric guitar. An Epiphone Les Paul Special II. Shortly thereafter, my cousin sent me a demo he wrote some music on, breaking me into the electronic music scene.
Exposition
Guitar playing evolved into leading worship for a local church, which evolved into participation in half a dozen various worship-bands at various churches around Wichita, including stints at New Life Church, Westlink, Asbury and Eastminster Presbyterian. This experience maneuvered me into a position to join Shine Like Stars. Since joining, I’ve helped record an EP titled “Repeat, Rewind Redux – Hymns We Tried Not To Ruin” and toured across parts of the Midwest with the band.
The electronic music interest eventually drove me to purchase some turntables and some vinyl. I held a residency as a DJ for an online radio show for a few months, recorded a dozen or so DJ sets, and eventually worked my way into club performance. I’ve since performed at America’s Pub, Finn’s, Indigo, Lizard Lounge and various other small venues alongside Wichita’s best club DJ’s. This genre-interest also lead to forming a band with my sister Cassie, which we dubbed “Duncan Kong.”
Development
Through various contacts and an ever-present love of film-scores, I’ve been able to produce music for four independent films by a production company in Los Angeles.
I’ve also released an album titled “Robot Fairytale”. An experiment in a musical mashup of electronic elements and orchestral textures, it provides a unique tone that’s vaguely film-score-esque while being heavily club-influenced and beat-driven.
Recapitulation
Currently you can see me play with Shine Like Stars at City Life Church on Sunday mornings, along with many other events we play for at venues ranging from outdoor-events to coffee-shops. When I can, I sneak in a DJ gig at various clubs around town. Music is readily available on iTunes and SoundCloud.
